A brand new Fortnite Reload map has been added with the latest update to the game, Reload Elite Stronghold. It’s a map which will spice things up in the game mode, but seemingly tie into the Fortnite lore this season too. However, the weirdest thing about this new map is how it is being released.
The new Fortnite Reload map has been added to the game with the latest update. We’ve already seen leakers pouring through its mastery quests and giving us an early look at the birds-eye view of it. However, it won’t be available for everyone at the same time. Epic has experimented in the past with giving the best performing Fortnite players an early look at the new Reload map. However, this time it is based on rank.
Some players will get the chance to play Reload Elite Stronghold early. They’ll get access pretty soon provided they’ve spent enough time grinding Reload. However, in just a few days we’ll all get access to the new map in the Reload map rotation. This is how early access will work and what we know about the new Fortnite Reload map so far.
New Fortnite Reload Map Coming
The new Fortnite Reload map is coming as part of the bigger Fortnite patch today. With Save the World going free to play and a fresh season starting for Festival. It won’t go live until a little later though. it’s in the files, but being held back for a better launch in a few days time. Ahead of its release, we’ve had a clear look at how it looks in-game.
As you can tell looking at the map design, there’s a Zero Point shard here. This does tie into Fortnite lore, with the Dark Voyager travelling between game modes attempting to track down these shards. With this map being named after the elite faction coming to BR, it makes sense to tie in. it’ll likely also factor in with the Areans game mode which features the same NPCs. These are lore elements though. Most Fortnite Reload players aren’t in it for the story. However, the new Fortnite Reload map will get a gameplay element from the shard though.
The shards on the map rift players. There’s one in the right center of the BR map which provides a quick getaway in pretty much every game when you’re fighting around there. It’s location on the Reload Elite stronghold map will make it less useful. Reload players are much more used to players rifting in too and can beam people out of the sky. But when storms pulls that way, it’ll boost mobility for players.

How to Play Reload Elite Stronghold Early
The new Fortnite Reload map is coming after this update, but some players can play it early. Epic has announced an early access period for the map. Starting on April 18th, some players can get access to the Reload Stronghold.
The Reload Elite Stronghold map will be available on Saturday for players who reach the Fortnite Rank Elite. They’ll need to hit it before general release to play the map early.
The new Fortnite Reload map will be available to use who grind in Fortnite Ranked Reload for a while weekend early, before a wider release on April 20th. This is a more open system than last time, where players had to place highly in Fortnite esports events to make the early access day. We are still seeing some Elite Stronghold early access cups being held, but they’re just normal cups. No early admission on the prizes this time!
