REGENERATION: 1995/96 Retro Kit Available on 30th Anniversary of Promotion

Derby County is thrilled to announce a limited edition run of our iconic 1995/96 home shirt, as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of our promotion to the Premier League under Jim Smith.

The kit, supplied by PUMA, will be available to purchase from 8am on Tuesday 28th April – 30 years to the day that the Rams secured a vital victory over Crystal Palace, which returned them to the top-flight.

The 1995/96 replica has been manufactured by PUMA to as close a copy to the original specification as possible, with V-neck black collar tipped with yellow and white and featuring an embroidered ‘Derby County’, central flocked ‘diamond’ Ram logo with ‘Derby County F.C.’ scroll and 1884 accompanied by the PUMA badge, vertical sublimated striping to the main body and iconic striped black and white sleeves with detailing of yellow piping.

This year’s home kit draws inspiration from the 1995/96 shirt, which was the first to be supplied by PUMA, with striped sleeves and the use of yellow cuffs making a significant nod towards the sought-after ‘90s strip.

A limited run of the replica shirts will be available, retailing at £65, both in person at the Derby County Megastore and online at www.dcfcmegastore.co.uk from 8am on Tuesday 28th April.

The Derby County Megastore will extend its opening hours from 8am to 7pm on the day. The number of purchases per transaction will be limited.

The shirt is cut in a relaxed fit, inspired by the looser silhouettes of 90s football kits, less tailored.

Because of that, it won’t fit like modern PUMA football shirts, which are designed with a slimmer, more athletic cut. If you’re used to today’s fit, expect this to feel roomier through the body and sleeves for a more classic, throwback look.

In recognition of the anniversary, players from the 1995/96 squad joining us at this weekend’s fixture vs Oxford United (Saturday 18th April, 12.30pm kick-off) will receive a replica version of the kit with the addition of their legacy number.

All graphics for the Oxford United fixture will also feature current first team players sporting the replica shirt, and a special edition of The Ram – with a feature-length interview with then assistant coach Steve McClaren and commemorative pull-out cover – will also be available for £5 at the game and online.
