Fight to get Chicago Bears to Indiana hits setback

Indiana’s fight to get the Chicago Bears to build a stadium in Hammond suffered a setback.

The Illinois House of Representatives passed legislation that might convince the Bears to stay in Chicago.

That’s the Megaprojects Bill.

It would offer significant tax breaks to large developments such as a football stadium in Arlington Heights, which is a northwest suburb of Chicago.

The Bears own 325 acres of the former Arlington horse track.

The bill would freeze the Bears’ property tax bill and provide tax breaks that could save the franchise tens of millions in taxes each year.
