Are we Faithfuls or are we dancers? Summer House’s Ciara Miller and Love Island’s Maura Higgins can say “yes” to both. They are the first celebrity contestants announced in the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. We’re tinkin’ this is the perfect chance for the two Traitors alumni to dance their way to the final three, or at the very least become Roxie Hart on Broadway. It’s the perfect casting to keep the momentum going after the monumental growth of the longtime competition series. Miller is breaking out of her Bravo bubble after the Amanda Batula–West Wilson relationship scandal, hosting red carpets for Apple TV+ and HBO. Higgins made it to the final two in the most recent season of Traitors, where she was betrayed by fellow Islander Rob Rausch (he made up for it by getting her a Birkin).
Miller’s casting came after the Summer House shake-up, Rob Mills, executive vice-president of unscripted at Disney, tells Vulture. “Obviously you couldn’t ignore this story. It was everywhere. We just said [to Ciara], ‘Would you entertain getting on a Zoom with us and talking about this?’ So we did, and she could not have been lovelier,” Mills explained. “I think that if you don’t know Ciara, within five minutes of seeing her and hearing her story, you’re going to fall in love with her. And that’s always the great litmus test for Dancing.” There’s no word yet on who their pros will be, but if they want suggestions, Higgins should be paired with Pasha Pashkov and Miller with Val Chmerkovskiy.
