We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, emergency services and volunteers working tirelessly in extraordinarily difficult conditions. These events are a stark reminder of the challenge posed by an increasingly extreme climate and the importance of protecting both people and nature.’ The post was signed ‘W’, indicating William had written the statement himself.
As for many families, summer is a time for the Waleses to spend quality time together. The Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final typically represents the Princess of Wales’ final engagement before the summer break, which means royal watchers are unlikely to see her out and about for a number of weeks. Prince William keeps a less strict schedule but also values the time to recharge away from the spotlight.

It is a particularly important summer for the family as Prince George prepares to start at Eton this September. The 13-year-old previously attended Lambrook School, Windsor, alongside his brother and sister but will now follow in the footsteps of his father and uncle, Prince Harry, at the prestigious all-boys boarding school.
Although details of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ summer holidays are, understandably, kept under wraps, they typically involve an overseas trip. Last year, it was reported the family had spent time on a yacht off the Greek island of Kefalonia in a sun-soaked escape alongside the Princess’ parents, Michael and Carole Middleton.
Kefalonia is often described as the ‘St Tropez of Greece’ for the way it attracts the rich, famous and aristocratic – think Demi Moore, Tom Parker Bowles and Jade Holland Cooper. And with its clear blue waters, storied caves ready for exploration and the glamorous port town of Fiskardo (ideal for a spot of shopping or a see-and-be-seen dinner) it’s no wonder the beautiful Greek island has earned such a reputation.
