Coronation Street has been taken off air on Friday due to a schedule shake-up on ITV1. Fans can usually tune into the drama on the cobbles every weeknight at 8.30pm. However, viewers will miss out on Friday’s instalment after a whirlwind week in Weatherfield.

From cancellations to rescheduled episodes, it’s safe to say fans have been baffled by the schedule changes on ITV. It’s been a chaotic week on Coronation Street in the lead up to Carla and Lisa’s wedding, and fans will have to wait until next week for the next episode.

Fans were quick to praise Thursday’s heartwarming episode which saw two iconic characters say their vows in a last minute ceremony held at the Chariot Square hotel. Lisa, Roy, Ryan and Betsy surprised Carla and a last-minute, private ceremony was held in the hotel reception.

As the episode came to a close, Carla and Lisa did their final dance as newly weds. Meanwhile, a scream could be heard from outside.

While Lisa brushed it off as someone seeing a fox, in reality it was Betsy as she discovered a dead body of someone she knows. Those at risk of being murdered as part of the gripping storyline include Jodie Ramsay (Olivia Frances Brown), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) and Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

But viewers may be disappointed to learn Friday’s episode has been cancelled, so soap fans will have to wait until next week to learn more about the suspicious death.

The I’m A Celebrity South Africa finale episode takes over ITV on Friday (April 24), when one campmate will be crowned the ultimate “legend”.

Fans have been tuning in to the spin-off reality show over the past three weeks which has featured several star-studded names including Gemma Collins, Harry Redknapp, Adam Thomas and Sir Mo Farah.

Coverage of the live final begins at 7.30pm on ITV1 and lasts until 9pm, which means both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been taken off air. Both soaps aired last Sunday (April 19) evening instead, to make up for the missing broadcasts.

The schedule change comes at a critical time in Coronation Street as the countdown has begun in the lead up to the shocking death, which is set to take place at the end of “Murder Week” next week.

Across five nights, viewers will revisit the same day but each episode will be seen from the perspective of a different potential victim.

At the end of the week, Betsy Swain will find one of them dead and the hunt to find the killer will begin. The murder episode will air on Friday, May 1.

Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
