Throughout the conversation, Pattinson opens up about his previous romances with Kristen Stewart and FKA Twigs, but remains reluctant to talk about his current relationship with Waterhouse. “Do I have to?” he asks upon the request to share more details about their low-key romance. “If you let people in, it devalues what love is. If a stranger on the street asked you about your relationship, you’d think it extremely rude. If you put up a wall, it ends better.”
Pattinson also says that as a celebrity, when he’s constantly captured doing regular things—like holding hands in public with his significant other—the boundaries between living and acting begin to blur. “I can’t understand how someone can walk down the street holding hands, and it’s the same as when I do it and a hundred people are taking your photo,” he says. “The line between when you’re performing and when you’re not will eventually get washed away and you’ll go completely mad.”

The two celebrate the actor’s 33rd birthday on May 13 with a romantic dinner at the Chateau Marmont restaurant in Los Angeles. For part of the evening, they are also seen hanging out with actor Tom Sturridge, according to People.
Weeks later, on May 31, the pair go on a double date with Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn at San Vicente Bungalows in Hollywood, where the two couples are seen “laughing and talking,” per an onlooker via Us Weekly.

In his March 2022 cover interview with GQ, published February 8, Pattinson reveals an amusing story about how Waterhouse once teasingly indulged their repairman—a big DC Comics fan—about the actor’s starring role in The Batman. “He just randomly started talking about what a DC fan he is,” Pattinson recalls. “And I’m sitting there facing the other direction, and my girlfriend just keeps continuing the conversation with him. And I’m looking at her like: ‘Shut the fuck up!’ ”

Later in the month, Pattinson also shares on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he watched The Batman for the first time alongside Waterhouse. and that her sweet, heartfelt reaction to the film “kind of changed the entire thing.”
“I’m pretty sure she’s not normally into watching superhero movies,” he tells host Kimmel. “And just seeing that it was capturing her attention the entire time, and then she held my hand and touched it [to her face] and I could feel a little tear. And I was like, ‘No way!’ ”

Waterhouse divulges intimate new details surrounding her relationship with Pattinson in a profile interview with The Times, revealing that she and the actor have been inseparable and that she still feels a spark whenever she sees or hears from him, even after nearly five years.
“I had two days off the other day, and it was like, no question I’m going back to see him. Then he’ll come out for a couple of days,” Waterhouse says. “I’m shocked that I’m so happy with someone for nearly five years.”
She continues, “I’m always incredibly excited when I see his name pop up [on my phone] or even a text, and I think he feels the same about me. We’ve always got so much to say, and I find him hilarious.”

Waterhouse notes that “everyone was really acting,” and that she and Pattinson found the game so absurd, they began laughing hysterically and eventually got separated.
