Carson Beck drafted by Cardinals at No. 65

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck with the No. 65 overall pick (third round).

Beck marks the latest offensive addition for Arizona this draft following the Cardinals’ pick of running back Jeremiyah Love at No. 3 overall and offensive lineman Chase Bisontis.

He’s the third quarterback off the board following Las Vegas Raiders QB Fernando Mendoza (No. 1 overall) and Los Angeles Rams signal caller Ty Simpson (No. 13).

In his first and final season at Miami, Beck completed an ACC-leading 72.4% of his throws for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns to 12 interceptions during the Hurricanes’ national championship.

Before his time in Miami, Beck spent five years with the Georgia Bulldogs where he threw for 7,912 yards and 58 touchdowns to 20 interceptions on 68% passing.

The 6-foot-4, 233-pound signal caller was among the quarterback prospects the Cardinals hosted for top 30 visits this draft cycle.

Beck now joins a Cardinals quarterbacks room that underwent plenty of change this offseason.

On top of Arizona moving on from former franchise quarterback Kyler Murray, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings, the Cardinals signed Gardner Minshew to a reported backup role behind Jacoby Brissett this offseason.

Brissett, meanwhile, is asking to be paid as the Cardinals’ starter and has not attended the team’s voluntary offseason program this offseason.

Kedon Slovis is also on the roster.
