Two people arrested at Penfield Home Depot with U-Haul full of stolen items, deputies say

PENFIELD, N.Y. — Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people accused of retail theft at a Home Depot on Friday.
Deputies were called to the Home Depot on Panorama Trail in Penfield around 6 p.m. Friday. Jemell Bender from Brooklyn and Niketa Godwin from Syracuse showed up to the store in a U-Haul, deputies said.
Deputies said the U-Haul contained a large amount of stolen items, including Ring cameras, thermostats, valve replacements and more.
They also said Godwin had a magnetic device that’s commonly used to beat retail security tags.
Bender and Godwin are both charged with petit larceny and possession of burglar tools.
