Kate Hudson Reveals Son Ryder May Be the First Person in Her Family’s History to Graduate College

Kate Hudson’s son Ryder may be about to make family history.

The Running Point star, 47, recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she shared that her son Ryder, 22, is set to graduate from New York University in May.

Hudson, who shares Ryder with her ex-husband Chris Robinson, told Fallon, 51, that his graduation will mark a pivotal moment for her family.

“He’s not a kid. Ryder’s 22,” she told Fallon, to his disbelief. “He’s graduating college in two weeks. We realized, I think, and I could get this wrong and offend some generation in my family, but I think he’s the first person ever in my family history to graduate college.”

The actress, who is also mom to son Bingham, 14, and daughter Rani, 7, noted that while Ryder loved his experience at NYU, he’s “ready to be in the world.”

During Hudson’s appearance on the Tuesday, April 21 episode of Today, the mom of three again shared her excitement for her son Ryder’s upcoming graduation. While speaking about how he’s going to graduate in a couple of weeks, she shared one of the hidden talents that the budding actor has.

“He is graduating, like in weeks,” the doting mom excitedly shared. When Craig Melvin noted that Ryder wants to go into the family business of acting, she responded, “He’s an actor and likes to make furniture.”

After shocking Melvin with the revelation that her son likes to design furniture, she expanded, sharing that he’s currently building a sofa.

“He loves designing furniture, and he’s making a sofa right now, which I’m really excited about,” she said, before jokingly adding, “I’m like, ‘Maybe go in that direction, Ryder.’ “

The Song Sung Blue actress welcomed her first child, Ryder, with her ex-husband Robinson in 2004, followed by her second son, Bingham, whom she shares with her former fiancé Matt Bellamy, in 2011. Hudson’s family grew once again in 2018, when she gave birth to her first daughter, Rani, with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.
