A gold statue of Donald Trump found its way to Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, ahead of the PGA Tour’s signature event and the Cadillac Championship.

Many of the world’s best are gathered in Miami following the Zurich Classic, where Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick made history as the first pair of brothers to win the trophy. Meanwhile, Alex Fitzpatrick earned an invite to the remaining signature events in 2026 and, most importantly, a two-year PGA Tour exemption.

But Alex Fitzpatrick isn’t the only newcomer to the Cadillac Championship, as the 27-year-old is joined by a gold-plated statue of President Trump. This year marks the 250th anniversary of the United States and the first time in a decade that the Tour returns to Miami and Doral for the inaugural Cadillac Championship.

“It’s going to make me look smaller than I already am,” Rickie Fowler told Golfweek when asked if he would pose for a photo by the statue.

Maverick McNealy said the sculpture is “very tall and very gold.”

The statue, created by artist Alan Cottrill and commissioned by a cryptocurrency group, depicts Trump with a raised fist, a gesture the president performed after surviving an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, back in July 2024.

“What else would you expect?” Fowler said.

Doral’s Blue Monster is one of just nine current venues to appear on the 2026 schedule, with more than half a century of history, joining Waialae Country Club, Torrey Pines Golf Course, Pebble Beach Golf Links, and The Riviera Country Club.

The Cadillac Championship is the fifth of eight signature events this season, and includes 37 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, headlined by seven in the top-10, but it looks a little different this time around, with or without the new 15-foot statue.

“I mean this course, probably the last time we were here, it has changed a ton,” said Jhonattan Vegas.

“Changed a ton. I think it’s a course that obviously is weather-dependent. But I got a feeling it’s going to play a lot harder than it’s played in the past.

“Obviously, they did a bunch of changes to the course and if the weather, the wind picks up and the weather gets right, it’s going to be an incredible test.

“I was talking to one of the guys earlier and this is probably the first week on tour this year that we’ve played in Bermuda grass. So it’s going to take a lot of adjusting around the greens, on the greens. It takes a little bit of extra work, especially being that first week of playing in Bermuda.

“Obviously, this course here is very grainy, so you’re going to see golf being played a little bit different this week.”
