Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero exited Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians early due to injury.
During the top of the first inning, Caminero fouled an 86 mph cutter into the dirt and the ball immediately deflected upwards into his chin. He fell to the ground after but did manage to finish the at-bat before exiting the game.
Caminero went 0-for-1 on Tuesday before leaving the contest.
The 22-year-old star is slashing .259/.333/.500 so far this season, logging an .833 OPS in the process. He’s mashed eight home runs with 17 runs and 15 RBI as well.
The Rays are currently 17-11, good for second in the AL East at 1.5 games back of the Yankees.
