UPDATE: Police no longer on Trunk Road where dead body was found

‘This investigation began around 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, when people walking in the area discovered the deceased person in a wooded area off Trunk Road,’ a news release said

Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are no longer on scene in the 1200 block of Trunk Road.

“The investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the Coroner’s Office,” police said in a news release.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service continue to investigate a death in the 1200 block of Trunk Road.

On Wednesday, Sault Police were seen searching a field area directly behind the Husky House restaurant and gas bar.

“Today, there will be an increased police presence in the area as members of the Emergency Services Unit will be conducting a grid search,” police said in a news release.

A length of yellow police tape could be seen in the area being searched, as well as a blue tarp and bicycle.

“This investigation began around 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, when people walking in the area discovered the deceased person in a wooded area off Trunk Road.”

Detectives with the Forensic Identification Unit and Investigation Services continue to actively investigate.

Further information may be released as it becomes available, police said.
