A person is dead Thursday night after Pinehurst authoriteis say they were hit by a train.
According to the Village of Pinehurst, the accident happened around 8:25 p.m. near Morganton Road at NC Highway 5. Police officers said the person died at the scene.
The train involved, which authorities say is two miles long, is blocking multiple intersections in the area. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area of Morgaton Road and NC Highway 5 while they investigate.
