July 10: The Nuggets have signed Trevon Brazile to a standard contract, per the NBA’s official transaction log.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise — vice president of basketball operations Ben Tenzer suggested shortly after June’s draft that Brazile would be on the standard roster. The 23-year-old likely received the rookie minimum ($1.36MM) in 2026/27 as the Nuggets navigate a financial crunch and the restricted free agencies of Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones.
Denver acquired Brazile’s rights from San Antonio by moving back from No. 26 to No. 35 in last month’s draft. The Nuggets also added a couple of future second-round picks in that deal.
Second-rounders who receive standard contracts are typically signed to three- or four-year deals using the second-round exception. We have yet to see any reports regarding the salary guarantee details of Brazile’s contract or how many years it covers.
A 6’10” power forward, Brazile spent his freshman season playing for Missouri, his home state. He transferred to Arkansas ahead of his sophomore year and was granted a medical redshirt in 2022/23 after tearing the ACL in his knee.
Known for his athleticism, Brazile averaged 13.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks in 31.5 minutes per game across 36 appearances as a senior for the Razorbacks in 2025/26. He posted a shooting slash line of .525/.341/.717 and helped Arkansas reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
Brazile’s contract became official before he made his Summer League debut with Denver on Friday.
