Sara Gore cancer – NBC New York host reveals diagnosis

Sara Gore, a longtime host on NBC New York, revealed that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.
NBC New York host Sara Gore will be going off the air to deal with a major health issue.
Gore, known for hosting the station’s lifestyle programs “Open House” and “New York Live,” revealed that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer during an appearance on “New York Live” Thursday, April 30.
“I’m going to be stepping away for treatment and surgery,” Gore, 49, said. “If I didn’t say that I was a little bit scared, I’d be lying.”
The news personality, who has a family history of breast cancer, said she “always knew I was high-risk” but noted the mental impact of receiving her diagnosis.
“I always assumed this day would come. But let me tell you, you are never ready,” Gore continued. “For some reason, even when you catch it early because you’re doing everything right, it is an emotional blow. I wasn’t ready for that. That actually really surprised me. It really stung.”
Despite her anxieties about the health scare, Gore said she is “exactly where I need to be” and is “surrounded by incredible doctors and people who are taking such good care of me at home.”
“As hard as this is, I am choosing to believe, at least for me, in this moment in time, that maybe there is a gift in this, even if I don’t fully understand what it is yet,” Gore said. “I’m working on that part. If anything, it’s already a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to focus on what really matters.”
An Emmy-winning host, Gore has racked up “over 3,000 hours of live and taped television” throughout her career, according to the official NBC New York website. Before becoming a newscaster, Gore pursued a culinary career, working as a personal chef, food columnist, caterer and a line cook for chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
On “Open House,” Gore helps showcase luxury properties and celebrity homes across the nation, as well as offers viewers industry advice through the show’s featured experts. In addition to hosting the real estate program, Gore also works as a licensed real estate salesperson.
Gore’s other NBC show, “New York Live,” is a daily lifestyle series that spans topics including fashion, celebrity news, food and local entertainment.
Gore became visibly emotional as she thanked her colleagues and viewers for their support amid her cancer journey. “I feel loved. I feel very supported,” she said.
“I’m going to come back better than ever, and I’m going to see you on the other side of this,” Gore concluded. “Thank you for all you’ve done.”
