Met Gala 2026: Everything you need to know ahead of Monday’s party

Considered by some to be “fashion’s biggest night,” the annual gala, first launched in 1948 by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, is a massive invitation-only fundraising benefit for the museum’s Costume Institute, and the department’s main source of funding.

When is the 2026 Met Gala?

The Met Gala is held every year on the first Monday in May. This year’s gala will take place on May 4.

This year will be Anna Wintour’s first year co-chairing the Met Gala since stepping down as Vogue editor-in-chief last year. She has co-chaired nearly every Met Gala since 1995.

Get Starting Point

Wintour will be joined by music phenom Beyoncé, Academy-Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman, and tennis superstar Venus Williams.

While the Met Gala is infamously strict on photo and video inside the festivities, Vogue will stream the red carpet arrivals on all their digital platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, starting at 6 p.m.

Cara Delevingne, Ashley Graham, and La La Anthony will serve as the magazine’s official livestream hosts, while Emma Chamberlain will return as the red carpet correspondent for her sixth year in a row.

E! will also air a red carpet special starting at 6 p.m. featuring co-hosts Ciara Miller, Bronwyn Newport, Renee Montgomery, Christian Siriano, and Chris Appleton.

Who’s on the guest list?

Though the full guest list is kept under wraps, viewers can get a sneak peek at who will be walking the red carpet by looking at the gala’s host committee, who will help support the festivities.

This year’s committee includes supermodel Alex Consani, award-winning actress Angela Bassett, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, ballet dancer Misty Copeland, singer-songwriter and actress Teyana Taylor, and pop singer Sabrina Carpenter.

Additional committee members include Aimee Mullins, A’ja Wilson, Amy Sherald, Anna Weyant, Anthony Vaccarello, Chase Sui Wonders, Chloe Malle, Doja Cat, Elizabeth Debicki, Gwendoline Christie, Lauren Sánchez, Lauren Wasser, Lena Dunham, LISA, Paloma Elsesser, Rebecca Hall, Sam Smith, Sinéad Burke, Tschabalala Self, Yseult, and Zoë Kravitz.
