Retired Kentucky Derby jockey Pat Day taught The Courier Journal’s Kirby Adams how to ride on an exercise horse.

Day won the Kentucky Derby in 1992 aboard longshot Lil E. Tee and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1991. There is a bronze statue of the famous jockey, with his arms stretched out in celebration, located on the grounds of Churchill Downs.
