Magic’s Jalen Suggs suffers ankle injury scare in Game 7 vs. Pistons

With the Orlando Magic playing in Game 7 against the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the team has seen an injury to a key player right before halftime. With the Magic already without Franz Wagner, the status of guard Jalen Suggs is uncertain.
In an effort to get one last shot before the end of halftime, it looked like Suggs injured his ankle and landed awkwardly after his half-court heave. At halftime, with Orlando trailing 60-49, Suggs finished the half with two points on one of five shooting from the field to go along with three assists and two rebounds.

Magic beat reporter Jason Beede would say that it seemed Detroit star point guard Cade Cunningham had “partially landed” on the ankle of Suggs. He did walk off on his own power, via Beede.
“Jalen Suggs appeared to be in a lot of paint grabbing his left ankle. Looked like Cunningham partially landed on it. No hostile act on the play after review. Suggs was able to walk off the court on his own power as the sides went to the locker room, but was moving slowly,” Beede wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
A huge update for Magic’s Jalen Suggs in the second half
While it was a stressful halftime for fans in wondering if Suggs would come back at some points or if it was a severe injury, there was no doubt a huge sigh of relief that he came back and started the second half.
“Jalen Suggs is on the floor to start the second half of Game 7 for the Magic,” Beede wrote on X.
Suggs has been an integral part of Orlando’s current roster, being relied on as a two-way player as he averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from beyond the arc.
With the Magic in a do-or-die game in Game 7 against the Pistons, Suggs and others will need to muster up a great second half to overcome a double-digit deficit at halftime.
