Salah joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 for a then-club-record fee, after thriving in Serie A following a mixed spell at Chelsea.
What happened next was surely beyond even Klopp and Salah’s wildest dreams, as the winger went on to become one of the club’s greatest ever players.
He has 257 goals in 440 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions so far, and going on to win every major trophy possible.
Klopp and Salah won Liverpool’s first league title for 30 years in the 2019/20 season, as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2018/19, plus the FA Cup and two League Cups.
The German made the decision to depart Liverpool in May 2024 and now Salah is doing the same, after spending nine seasons at the club.
And Klopp has reflected on being able to smile when he thinks of what Liverpool achieved during his reign.

Klopp said in a video shown to Salah on TNT Sports’ The Breakdown: ”Mo, it was an absolute honour to work with you, it was a pleasure as well, not every minute, but most of the time.
”Remember when we came together, I said let’s create a special story and let’s make sure that when we see each other in 10/15/20 years’ time, we can look back and we cannot avoid a smile.
”And I have that smile when I think of our time together.
”I am just super happy and thankful that I was part of the whole journey for a while and all the best for all that is coming up, there is still a few good years to come and have a great time – enjoy!”
Liverpool managed to win a second Premier League title immediately after Klopp’s departure, with new boss Arne Slot getting the best out of Salah, who scored 29 Premier League goals in 32 matches on the way to the title.
The Egyptian joked that he was pleased he could one-up Klopp in terms of his league triumphs but also praised him for managing to keep players happy at all times.
Salah said: ”I think managing the players is very hard, through the years, he was understanding it more and I think it is not that easy at all, managing the players, managing the dressing room.
”Having a team with the stars that we had and just keeping everyone sweet and everybody working.
”I think he was lucky that we all wanted to work, he didn’t have to force anyone to work because we really wanted to succeed, every one of us wanted to achieve big things which is good.

”But we had that bond between us and I remember that conversation I had with him when he said I want to come after five, 10 years and just look back and say, ‘oh we had a great time together.’
”I was so happy last year when we won the Premier League so I could tell him I have two Premier Leagues, you only have one!”
