‘Bank of Dave’ star calls emergency services as crews tackle huge blaze at Burnley industrial site

Firefighters from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a huge fire at an industrial site in Burnley.

Crews were called to the Warburtons site on Billington Road at 14:45 on Monday 4 May, with 12 fire engines attending the site. Locals are being urged to keep windows and doors closed.

The scene was captured from the air by ‘Bank of Dave’ star Dave Fishwick who circled the area in his helicopter.

In a video posted on social media he is heard to say: “I hope everybody is OK. There is a huge fire just down there. It’s unbelievable how big the fire is.

“I’m calling the fire brigade now to make sure they know about it. The big big factory roof is going up

“It looks like it’s Warburtons going up in flames.”

A spokesperson for Warburtons has confirmed in a statement that it is the affected site: “We can confirm that thankfully everyone has safely been evacuated from the building.

“We are grateful to the fire brigade who are currently working extremely hard to get the fire under control.

“We don’t know the cause of the fire, or the full extent of the damage as yet. “
