The White House was briefly locked down Monday afternoon after a shooting a few blocks away, officials said.
One person was shot by a law enforcement officer at 15th Street SW and Independence Avenue SW near the Washington Monument, according to U.S. Secret Service. The shooting occurred during a confrontation between an armed individual and Secret Service police, the agency said in a social media post.
