At the Met Gala Connor Storrie (In Saint Laurent) Cements Himself Among Fashion’s Elite

It’s been a big year for Connor Storrie. He was waiting tables in Los Angeles not so long ago, having convinced himself that acting might not work out, but then Heated Rivalry dropped and the rest is a glittering story of overnight success, following the adaptation of Rachel Reid’s novel. The star of the Canadian show, alongside Hudson Williams, Storrie has gone from serving medium rare steaks at the Laurel Grill in Culver City to introducing Olivia Rodrigo on SNL. And presenting at the Golden Globes. Oh, and the Oscars.

Now he’s at his first Met Gala, where he’s rubbing shoulders with big names like Nicole Kidman, Charli xcx and – yes, really – Beyoncé. And for the occasion, which called for a “Fashion is art” dress code, the extremely charismatic 25-year old actor, who is styled by Brit James Yardley, wore Saint Laurent. His black suit? Subtly cinched at the waist to show his muscular frame, was embellished with a polka dot scarf, tied with an artistic flourish – on theme, eh? – round his neck, which he let train majestically behind him. In short, this is a guy that wants everyone to know he’s arrived, and he’s staying. His brooch -Tiffany & Co. – glimmered as if under the spell of the paparazzi flashes.

It makes sense for Storrie to be at the Met Gala. He has, in less than six months, become one of the hottest commodities in fashion following his hockey show breakthrough role. Brands were quick to fight over him (so our contemporaries in the industry have told us), with Saint Laurent and artistic director Anthony Vaccarrello coming out on top.

What’s next for Storrie? More Met Galas, more Saint Laurent and another two seasons of Heated Rivalry. Waiting tables? Nah.
