Tip leads to arrest of second suspect in unprovoked attack on 77-year-old Seattle man

Investigators say a tip from the public led to the arrest of a second suspect accused of beating a senior citizen who had just gotten off a bus in downtown Seattle last month.

Redmond police arrested Jes’Sean Tyrell Elion at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after a witness called to report she recognized him from news coverage of the incident.

KOMO News obtained the video through a public records request and published it earlier Wednesday.

Elion appeared in court Tuesday afternoon, and a judge set bail at $100,000.

The other suspect, Ahmed Abdullahi Osman, 29, was arrested the night of the April 19 attack and later released from custody without bail. He now has a warrant out for his arrest.

Osman and Elion are accused of randomly approaching the 77-year-old victim, shoving him to the ground, and hitting him.

Video of the incident was recorded by Seattle police Real Time Crime Center cameras positioned along Third Avenue in the downtown core.

The victim remains at Harborview Medical Center more than two weeks after the attack. A police report indicates he suffered a broken knee, a broken arm, and facial injuries.
