Channel 4’s exciting drama with Keeley Hawes, Paapa Essiedu and Jason Watkins confirms release date

Channel 4’s exciting new drama Falling has confirmed a release date. The upcoming series features a star-studded cast including Keeley Hawes, Paapa Essiedu and Jason Watkins – and will thankfully be premiering soon.
The show centres on nun Anna and priest David who “are deeply committed to their work in the church and in their community”, and begin to fall in love.
As such, they are “forced to wrestle with what it means for them, their vows, and their relationship with God”, with Falling described as “a witty, moving, contemporary romantic drama that is as honest as it is full of heart”.

It has now been confirmed by Channel 4 that the series will premiere on Tuesday, 19 May at 9pm with its first episode, with the second following the next evening. All episodes will drop on the broadcaster’s streamer at the same time as its premiere on Tuesday.
As well as Hawes and Essiedu as the central duo, the series features The Crown‘s Watkins as Peter, Heartbeat actor Niamh Cusack as Francesca, The Pact‘s Rakie Ayola as Muriel, Gavin & Stacey‘s Adrian Scarborough as Francis and My Policeman‘s David Dawson as Phil.
Falling is written by Adolescence’s Jack Thorne, who previously admitted that he “never thought” he would “write a love story”.
“We feel so lucky we have persuaded the mighty (and lovely) Keeley Hawes, the brilliant (and also lovely) Paapa Essiedu and the most amazing company of (lovely) actors to come make this with us, The Forge and Channel 4,” he added.

“Falling is a story that has Jack Thorne’s singular talent of mining the sublime out of the ordinary running all the way through,” Essiedu added.
Hawes said: “I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of Anna and so looking forward to working alongside the brilliant Paapa Essiedu to bring Jack Thorne’s beautiful scripts to life.”
Falling will premiere on Tuesday, 19 May at 9pm on Channel 4, with all episodes dropping on Channel 4 at the same time.
