Power outage restored in Mount Pleasant after tree fell on power line

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A large tree leaning on power lines caused power outages Thursday morning in areas of Highway 41 and U.S. 17.

Officials said the impacted areas included U.S. 17 and Highway 41, at the Winnowing and Bessemer areas, near Laurel Hill Park in Mount Pleasant, around 4:40 Thursday morning.

Mount Pleasant police said that Dominion Energy crews were working on the tree and power lines and advised drivers to expect delays and use caution in the area.

Just before 7:30 Thursday morning, power was restored and the scene was cleared.
