A Toronto city councillor says Ontario Provincial Police are investigating allegations against him.
In a post to Instagram Sunday, Coun. Parthi Kandavel (Scarborough Southwest) said he was “surprised” to find out about the investigation on Friday afternoon.
“I recognize this is difficult news and hope to resolve the situation quickly,” he wrote.
Kandavel added he has “worked hard” to earn the trust of those in his riding.
“I’ve strived to maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity and will address any allegations that suggest otherwise,” he said. “I’m still learning more about the investigation and the nature of the allegations, and will share more as I can.”
CBC Toronto reached out to Kandavel, the OPP and Toronto police for comment.
Kandavel, who is a former Toronto District School Board trustee, was elected as the councillor for Scarborough Southwest in a 2023 byelection, replacing former budget chief Gary Crawford.
