Emirates unveils special livery in honor of the United Arab Emirates

Emirates airline has unveiled a new special livery for its flagship Airbus A380. The aircraft, registration A6-EVG, now features a large-scale depiction of the national flag of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on its fuselage.
This visual redesign is part of the nationwide campaign “This Flag Will Always Fly,” an initiative of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The aim is to make the flag, as a central symbol of national ambition and social unity, more visible in international airspace. The design features a three-dimensional look that extends across both sides of the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
Following the official commissioning of the newly painted aircraft, the Airbus has already completed its first long-haul flights to destinations such as New York and Brisbane. Emirates plans to extend this visual concept to further destinations within its global A380 network in the near future. In addition, preparations are underway to apply the flag design to Boeing 777 aircraft, which form the second mainstay of the fleet. Previously, the national flag was traditionally displayed on the tail fins of all Emirates aircraft; however, the new design represents a significant expansion of this symbolism, utilizing the aircraft fuselage as a mobile display area.
The technical implementation of such special liveries takes place in Emirates Engineering’s state-of-the-art maintenance hangars in Dubai. Specialized painting processes are employed to guarantee the durability of the colors under extreme atmospheric conditions at cruising altitude. Industry observers view such initiatives as a tool for location marketing, closely linking the national airline’s global brand presence with the identity of Dubai. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Emirates Group, emphasized in this context the importance of air transport as an ambassador for the nation’s economic strength and technological progress.
The campaign also addresses the recent economic challenges in the region, which are being met with a renewed emphasis on national unity. The aviation industry plays a key role in the UAE’s GDP and international connectivity. By prominently branding its fleet, the airline leverages its global reach across continents and time zones to demonstrate the country’s political and social stability. The special livery is expected to remain on the aircraft for several years, ensuring a permanent presence at major international airports.
