Sandra Bullock tends to keep her personal life private and rarely shares photos of her children. However, this Mother’s Day, she made an exception. In a sweet Instagram post, the actress included an adorable throwback photo featuring her son, Louis, and her daughter, Laila. In the photo, she held Laila on her lap, while Louis sat next to them.

“To all the mamas,” wrote Bullock alongside the photos. “No matter how you came to be, Happy Mother’s Day. We are all bound by this honor of a lifetime.”
She then gave a shout-out to her late mother and grandmother. “Mom and Omi, thank you for teaching me. We miss you ❤️ Sorry I was such a brat.”

Bullock adopted Louis in 2010 and adopted Laila in 2015.
During a 2021 episode of Red Table Talk, she explained that both adoptions felt connected to her own mother, Helga Meyer, who had died in 2000.
“The sweetest part of it is that I found out about both babies when I was in the exact same place,” the actress said. “I was in the place where my mother was buried: Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It makes me really emotional but…I feel beyond a shadow of a doubt that my mother brought me these children.”
Since welcoming her two children, Bullock’s focus had shifted to her family.
“It’s my kids,” she said during an appearance on Today in 2018. “Everything is about them being ok, being in school, having what they need, their moments. I need to be there for every single moment that they have. It’s harder for me to leave them than I think it is for them when I leave. I don’t leave that much, and I don’t work that much anymore either….So my priorities are my kids, my kids, my kids. My family. My family. That’s it.”
She added, “It’s just like being a mom, I finally realize, ‘Oh, this is what I was supposed to do when I grew up.’ Not be an actress; to be a mom…This is my purpose.”

Bullock has spent the last few years avoiding the spotlight following the death of her long-term partner Bryan Randall in 2023. “After everything she went through with Bryan, she needed time to care for herself,” a source told People recently. “She spent a lot of time healing, being with her kids, and being at home. She needed to ensure that she and her kids were in the best possible place for her to go back to work.” Randall became a co-parent to Louis and Laila when he began dating Bullock in 2015.
“I found the love of my life,” Bullock once said of Randall, adding, “We share two beautiful children—three children, [with Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever. He’s the example that I would want my children to have.”
