Singapore Airlines will increase its flights from Manchester Airport from five-times weekly to daily, the airline has announced. The new schedule will begin from July 13, offering passengers more opportunities to connect with destinations in the Far East this summer.

The direct route from Manchester to Singapore is operated by the airline’s Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft, which is configured with 253 seats: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy Class, and 187 in Economy Class. The announcement comes after the airline recently celebrated 40 years of flying from Manchester Airport.

It launched a twice-weekly service on March 31, 1986 and it represents the airport’s longest-standing relationship with a long haul carrier. A holiday destination in its own right, Singapore serves as a major travel hub for onward connections to Australia, Japan, New Zealand and more.

It comes at a time when passengers are seeking alternatives to travelling via Middle East travel hubs such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai due to the ongoing conflict between the US, its ally Israel and Iran. Although carriers such as Etihad and Qatar Airways have resumed the majority of flights, the UK Foreign Office continues to advise against all but essential travel to the UAE.

Manchester Airport Managing Director, Chris Woodroofe, said: “Here at Manchester Airport we are proud to connect the North to the world and our relationship with Singapore Airlines – which has been going strong for 40 years – plays a key part in that, opening up one of the planet’s most exciting destinations to people in our region.

“It’s a hugely popular destination with travellers from the North and provides opportunities for the area’s businesses to link up with an influential financial centre. And by return, the route also opens up our own region to people from Singapore, bringing benefits in terms of tourism and more.

“That’s why it’s so exciting that Singapore Airlines will soon be operating daily from Manchester – their home in the North. We’re really looking forward to welcoming even more Singapore Airlines passengers when the additional services start this summer.”

The outbound flight departs Manchester shortly after 10am, arriving in Singapore at 7.15am, while the inbound flight departs Singapore at 2.10am, arriving in Manchester at 8.35am. All passengers can enjoy complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi. Passengers in Business Class can enjoy fine dining from Guest Chef Monica Galetti, along with an award-winning wine collection while customers in Premium Economy Class and Economy Class can also enjoy an exclusive dessert from Chef Galetti.

Mohamed Rafi Mar, General Manager UK & Ireland, Singapore Airlines, added: “Manchester is the gateway to the North, and we are delighted to offer customers more choice and connectivity than ever before. Singapore Airlines, together with its low-cost carrier, Scoot, transports customers to over 130 destinations worldwide via Singapore, including Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Vietnam. Onboard, customers can look forward to world-class service, gourmet dining, and exciting in-flight entertainment.”
