Fire Advisory Issued – May 4, 2026

A Fire Advisory has been issued for the Town of Edson.

Based on the current and predicted weather conditions, The Town of Edson has instituted a fire advisory, effective May 4, 2026. This is due to the current and forecast weather and winds. The windy conditions have elevated the dry grass hazard in the region.

 Under this advisory:

Allowed for use with caution:

  • Safe wood campfires within fire rings (permitted and approved) are allowed within the Town of Edson. Use of spark arrestors is highly recommended. Never leave a fire unattended and ensure it’s completely out when leaving it.
  • CSA approved or ULC certified gas or propane barbeques used for cooking,
  • CSA approved or ULC certified Wood Pellet Smokers,
  • Propane and natural gas fire pits,
  • Catalytic or infrared-style heaters,
  • Electric or propane meat smokers.

Ensure all wood-burning firepits are used in compliance with the Town of Edson Guidelines.

  • Always use a screen spark arrestor with wood-burning firepits.
  • Fully extinguish firepits and solid fuel BBQs before leaving them unattended.
Properly dispose of smoking materials (cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches, or lighters).

This fire advisory will stay in place until further notice and will be reviewed as conditions improve or worsen.
