Steve Carell humbled hard after no one recognises him on Beverly Hills tour bus

Steve Carell has shared a brutally honest and slightly painful story about fame, revealing that even one of the most recognisable comedy stars in the world can still be completely overlooked in public.
During an appearance on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actor recalled a moment in Beverly Hills that left him unexpectedly humbled. While driving through the area with his wife, Carell spotted one of the open top celebrity tour buses filled with tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of famous faces.
Thinking it would be a fun interaction, he decided to wave. What happened next was not quite the reaction he had imagined. Carell said that not a single person on the bus recognised him. Instead of excitement or even mild curiosity, he was met with confusion. He recalled that the tourists essentially looked at him like, ‘what, who’s that?’ and carried on without acknowledging him at all.
The moment, while funny in hindsight, clearly stung at the time. Carell admitted that the lack of recognition made him shrink into himself, joking that it felt like the last time he would ever attempt something like that again. It was a rare glimpse into how even A list actors are not immune to ego hits in the most unexpected ways.
