Multiple critical patients in hospital from transport bus rollover near Grande Prairie

A charter bus full of oilfield workers rolled off a highway in northwest Alberta Wednesday morning, sending everyone on board to hospital — including four in critical condition.
Beaverlodge RCMP responded to the crash just after 7 a.m. on Highway 672 near Range Road 90, about 45 kilometres northwest of Grande Prairie.
The bus was headed east on the single-lane rural highway when it crashed and rolled. Police said no other vehicles were involved.
There were 17 people on the bus including the driver, according to RCMP public information Cpl. Mathew Howell, and the coach bus was owned by Calgary-based Trican Well Service.
Emergency Health Services-Alberta said all 17 people were treated for a range of injuries.

No deaths have been reported but four patients were taken to hospital with critical injuries.

STARS air ambulance said its Grande Prairie-based helicopter and crew responded to the passenger bus crash.

Two patients were flown in critical condition to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital on two separate flights, STARS said, with the crew returning to the scene after the initial flight to airlift the second patient.
EHS-Alberta said two other patients in life-threatening condition were driven by ground ambulance to hospital.
A different patient was driven to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Six other passengers were taken to hospital by a NET (non-emergent transport) vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.

The remaining six people chose to take themselves to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, EHS-Alberta said.

Howell said several other passengers were also taken to hospital while some were being assessed for minor injuries at the scene.

It’s not clear why the bus veered off the road. RCMP said the investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing but speed, weather and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
Global News reached out to Trican Well Services for more information on where the bus departed from and where it was headed to, however as of publishing no response had been received.
The highway was expected to reopen around suppertime.
