Bauhaus Brew Labs, Minneapolis craft beer giant, will close at the end of June

Beloved northeast Minneapolis craft brewer Bauhaus Brew Labs announced Thursday that it will cease operations in late June.
“We have been working furiously to identify ways to shift our business model, reduce costs, increase revenues, and find a pathway to operational stability,” Bauhaus said in a social media post. “Despite pulling every lever available to us, the financial headwinds have proven to be insurmountable, and we have made the very difficult and heartbreaking decision to close our doors.”
Founded in 2014, Bauhaus joined a burgeoning Twin Cities craft beer scene with a spacious taproom adapted from a former iron works.
True to its name, Bauhaus gained popularity by bringing traditional, German-style lagers into the modern age. In more recent years, the brewer explored emerging trends, releasing a line of hard seltzers and later jumping aboard Minnesota’s THC seltzer craze.
In a lengthy farewell statement, Bauhaus cited numerous challenges for its impending closure, including supply chain difficulties and a declining interest in craft beer.
“Unfortunately, we have faced a number of serious challenges over the past few years, including substantial cost increases in our supply chain, shifts in consumer preferences away from craft beer, a global pandemic, and most recently, a surge in federal immigration enforcement that directly targeted our wonderful city and deeply affected businesses across the hospitality industry.
Bauhaus will forge ahead with its annual Liquid Zoo celebration this weekend to coincide with Art-a-Whirl, and its last weekend of operations will be from June 26-28. The brewing is planning a big bash to celebrate their final weekend.
