Channel 5 is preparing to broadcast the sequel to gripping thriller The Ex-Wife.

The psychological drama featuring Celine Buckens, Janet Montgomery and Tom Misen proved enormously popular upon its debut in 2022, with audiences captivated by its countless twists and turns as Tasha (Celine) watched her marriage to Jack (Tom) destabilised by his relentless former partner (Janet Montgomery).

Fans of the programme had been eagerly anticipating a sequel, which was first unveiled last year and is now confirmed to air on Channel 5, reports the Mirror.

Here is everything you need to know about series two of The Ex-Wife.

Jordan Stephens of Rizzle Kicks portrays Tasha’s friend Sam throughout the series.

The second series resumes three years on from where the first season concluded. Tasha is living under a new identity in Cyprus alongside her daughter Emily (Liberty Miller), while Jen has rebuilt her life and is preparing to remarry.

Despite appearing secure in their new lives, matters take an ominous turn when Jack is released from prison ahead of schedule – having served just one year of his sentence. He appears to be a reformed character, but can he truly be trusted?

“With the shadow of the past haunting all three characters, attempts at moving on only bring them closer together, but who can each of them really trust, and can anyone truly change?” a synopsis says.

When the series was announced, Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Chief Content Officer at UK Paramount, said: “I am thrilled to be teaming up with Clapperboard, Blackbox Media and Night Train again for a second series of The Ex-Wife.

“The first series was a huge success and this time we promise viewers even more twists and turns! I can’t wait to see this incredible cast bring the next instalment of this drama to life.”

What time will it air?

The series begins on Channel 5 tonight (Friday, 15 May), with the first episode broadcasting at 9pm.

The Ex-Wife’s second series will start at 9pm on Channel 5 on Friday May 15.
