Kevin Bacon Still Has a Six-Pack at 67 – Here’s the High-Intensity Routine Behind His Lean Physique

Kevin Bacon is still in impressive shape, recently showing off his lean physique to Instagram followers. While filming a video joking that, ‘If you take an actor’s shirt off, chances are he’s wearing a wire,’ the 68-year-old casually revealed his six-pack in the process.
Much like his Footloose dance routines back in 1984, Bacon approaches fitness with high intensity. His workouts are typically short, sharp and efficient – getting as much work done as possible in minimal time.
‘I hike, I lift weights, I do calisthenics,’ Bacon said. ‘Sometimes I work with a trainer. I don’t work out for long periods of time because I’m just too bored by it. High-intensity, short periods of time are much more beneficial for me.’
It’s an approach he has maintained well into his sixties. While filming 2025 series The Bondsman, Bacon even had a gym ‘built’ on set – although it wasn’t exactly state-of-the-art. In a satirical Instagram video, he revealed the setup consisted of just two dumbbells and a kettlebell.
‘You spend a lot of time on set if you’re doing a TV show or film – 12 hours is usually the minimum,’ he said. ‘So it’s very hard to stay in shape, and there’s a lot of free food, which doesn’t help. And you look at these guys with these incredible bodies, bodies that I can only dream of. I say to myself, “I really wish I had a gym on set.” And some of these guys really do – they set up these incredible gyms right on set.
‘So this time I said to them that I’ve done well and I think I need to stay in shape, so please build me a gym,’ Bacon added, before revealing the three weights.
But that was clearly enough. As someone who prefers intense, time-efficient sessions, the stripped-back setup allowed him to train quickly without overcomplicating things.
That minimalism appears throughout Bacon’s approach to fitness. Speaking to Esquire in 2025, he explained how losing a large amount of money in Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme still fuels his workouts today – while also revealing his preference for rough-around-the-edges gyms over polished luxury facilities.
‘I go to this gym. It has a few machines and only a handful of people there at any given time. There are no showers; it’s very bare-bones. But there’s a leg-press machine. A leg press can be brutal. The machine is right next to a window, and when I look out that window, I’m looking right at the building where Madoff was,’ he said.
‘I’m in excruciating pain, doing the leg press, staring out that window. It’s perfect, in a funny way, because I also have to think, “I can get through this”.’
