DNR: ‘People of interest’ identified in 1,600-acre Flanders Fire

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says multiple people of interest have been identified as officials investigate the source of the Flanders Fire that has consumed more than 1,600 acres in Crow Wing County since Saturday.
As of Tuesday, the fire had consumed 1,666 acres, or 2.6 square miles, and was 60% contained, according to an update from the Minnesota Incident Command System. County Road 11 had been closed between Crosslake and Highway 6 as crews worked to put out the fire, but it has since been reopened.
No injuries have bee reported, and evacuation orders in the area were lifted at noon on Tuesday.

DNR officials say the origin was near the north shore of Flanders Lake, about halfway between Breezy Point and Highway 6.
Anyone in that area — particularly on the western side of the lake — who has trail camera or home surveillance footage between Friday, May 15, and Sunday, May 17, is asked to contact the DNR at 218-639-0782.
As for the other Minnesota wildfire, the Stewart Trail Fire near Two Harbors, state officials announced Tuesday that it is now 100% contained. That fire burned just over 350 acres.
