The Boys spinoffs coming in 2027 and beyond: Vought Rising, Mexico, more

As hard as it is to believe, The Boys has officially come to an end. Yes, that means that the most corrupt superheroes that the small screen has ever seen have officially flown off onto the horizon for good. To say that it’s the end of an era for fans who have been watching this show since 2019 would be a major understatement.

The good news is that the story for this franchise is far from over. Although the original show has come to an end and two previous spinoffs have been cancelled, there is more than enough story still to tell in the Vought Cinematic Universe. So, if you thought it was over with The Boys season 5 finale, then get ready because the fun is only just beginning.

With that in mind, here are the spinoffs you can expect from the world of The Boys in 2027 and beyond.

Vought Rising

Status: Post-production (filming completed as of March 2026)
Release window: 2027

The most high-profile of The Boys‘ planned spinoffs, Vought Rising is a prequel series designed to take us all the way back to the beginning of Vought International’s story. Front and center of it all is Soldier Boy, with Jensen Ackles set to reprise his role in a series regular capacity – something that fans of the original series are very, very happy about.

The story centers on a murder mystery surrounding the origins of Vought in the 1950s, with Soldier Boy and Stormfront at the forefront. And yes, that means that Aya Cash is also reprising her role as the infamous villain from The Boys‘ early days. It goes without saying that anticipation for this one is extremely high, which is why it’s particularly exciting to learn that it’s set for a 2027 release. The exact date will come at a future point in time, but Eric Kripke has confirmed that the plans are in motion for a release next year.

The Boys: Mexico

Status: In development
Release window: TBA

The more mysterious of the two spinoffs is undoubtedly The Boys: Mexico. Very little is known about this one right now other than the fact that legendary actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna are set to reunite and serve as producers on the show, with the potential for roles in it too. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is overseeing the series, which is expected to be to in Spanish.

While Vought Rising will take us into the past of the Vought Cinematic Universe, this one is expected to take us into the future, taking place after the events of the larger-than-life series finale of The Boys. It’s also said to have a somewhat more fun tone than that of its predecessor – one that will help set it apart and allow it to stand on its own two feet.

Hope for the Gen V characters

Jaz Sinclair (Marie Moreau)

It feels odd having all of this spinoff talk without referencing the original live-action Boys spinoff Gen V. Set at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, it saw the next generation of Supes come to the forefront of the franchise for two gripping seasons before its untimely cancellation.

Although the show won’t be returning for a third season, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg have made it clear that they want to bring the characters back down the line – with the pair already kicking around ideas on how to make that happen. With that in mind, we’ll have to wait and see if it’s one of the planned spinoffs, or whether there is an entirely new idea on their minds. Either way, the more Marie Moreau and her Gen V friends we get, the better!

Considering how successful The Boys has been, there is no doubt that this is only the beginning of the VCU. With the franchise spending time in both the past and the future going forward, the sky is quite literally the limit for what’s left of the world of Supes and real heroes.

For comic book and genre fans across the world, it’s going to be interesting having a world in which The Boys no longer exists, but the show’s legacy will live on for a long time to come. And these spinoffs allow it to do just that.
