Jalen Williams Injury Update, Latest News on Thunder Star’s Status for WCF Game 7 vs. Spurs

Oklahoma City forward Jalen Williams has been ruled out for Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday with a left hamstring strain.
Williams initially suffered the injury in Game 2 of the Thunder’s first-round sweep of the Phoenix Suns. He missed his team’s next six games but returned for the beginning of the Western Conference Finals.
Williams played in Game 1, posting 26 points and seven rebounds in 37 minutes of a 122-115 double overtime loss. However, he left Game 2 after just seven minutes of action due to a re-aggravation of the ailment. Williams returned for Game 6 but played just 10 minutes and took only one shot.
OKC has plenty of depth, as partially evidenced by the fact that the team has still managed to go 8-1 in the postseason in games Williams hasn’t played.
Still, Williams is a tough loss. During his 2024-25 season, Williams made All-NBA Third Team and his first All-Star team while averaging 21.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He was stellar in the playoffs as well, posting 21.4 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 4.8 APG in 23 starts en route to OKC’s NBA title.
Unfortunately, Williams has dealt with injuries this year and played just 33 games. He still averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 28.4 minutes on the season.
Without Williams, the Thunder have been putting guard Jared McCain in the starting lineup. McCain, who arrived in OKC via trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, has averaged 12.6 PPG over the last two rounds of the playoffs. Backup big man Jaylin Williams has also seen increased time as well off the bench. He had a big hand in OKC’s Game 3 win over the Spurs with 18 points and five rebounds.
Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals will take place in Oklahoma City at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
