The crossover between Beyond the Gates and The Young and the Restless kicks off June 9, and TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of what happens when the Duprees, Abbotts, and Newmans find themselves in the same room in Fairmont Crest.
Sheila Ducksworth, an executive producer of BTG who also serves as president of the CBS Studios/NAACP venture, says the connection between the CBS soaps began long before the new daytime drama premiered in February 2025.
“It was definitely a hush-hush, kind of situation until we got our green light,” Ducksworth recalls. “But I was able to connect with so many people who had roots in soap for decades, and then once we got our green light, Brad Bell [B&B‘s executive producer and head writer] is one of the best, and Josh Griffin [Y&R‘s head writer] was so helpful. Y&R opened their doors to us and let us see, not just on paper, how do we really do it? It was just incredible to have the opportunity to work together in that capacity.”

While the three soaps have had crossovers in the past, Ducksworth says this event is on a much larger scale. “You’ve seen little kernels of stuff,” she notes. “We’ll talk about Forrester, and we’ll talk about different characters, and we’ve even had some of the characters come over in a smaller way for an episode, but you’re going to see a multi-episode display of the Newmans and the Abbotts and everybody on the show really intermingled with our Duprees, and it is going to be big, and I mean big.”
And the fallout won’t end when the Genoa City residents head home. “It’s big episodes, and then it doesn’t just stop there,” teases the exec. “What happens in these episodes is so compelling, and then what happens as a result of what happens in these episodes is epic. That is all I can say. It is epic.”
