Off Campus star Mika Abdalla and Jake Short have ended their engagement less than a week after news broke that Abdalla would be the leading lady of season two. “Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together,” a rep for Abdalla told Us Weekly on Tuesday.
The pair have been dating since they met on set for the 2021 movie Sex Appeal. Abdalla went on to co-star in Off Campus, the other sexy ice-hockey romance that’s taken the internet by storm this year, based on books by Elle Kennedy. Abdalla’s breakout role as Allie Hayes — particularly her chemistry with co-star Stephen Kalyn as Dean — became so popular that the show announced last week that it’s planning to go by a different order than the books so that Allie and Dean can be the focus of season two. (The series apparently plans to center itself around a different couple each season.)
Short, meanwhile, is most famous for his role in Disney’s A.N.T. Farm in 2011 (you may recognize him from this meme, which is from the show). Abdalla’s rep added that she and Short “continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect.”
