Judge issues order of arrest for former Ky. Gov. Matt Bevin

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) – UPDATE: An order of arrest has been issued for former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin.

In the order, Judge Angela Johnson wrote that Bevin failed to produce required documents in a timely manner.

The order states that “all peace officers in the Commonwealth of Kentucky” are commanded to arrest Bevin.

Bevin will serve 60 days in jail and pay a fine of $500, according to the order.

Judge Johnson also denied a last minute motion from Bevin’s side to get an extension to provide these documents.

ORIGINAL STORY: Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin has been ordered to submit a complete list of required financial documents, or face jail time.

Bevin has to turn in the documents by noon, Friday. If he fails to do so, he will be sentenced to serve 60 days in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, and required to pay a $500 fine.

This order to provide documents is part of an ongoing legal battle between Bevin and his ex-wife Glenna, and adopted son, Jonah.

Bevin had previously been told he would need to provide financial information more than a year ago according to court documents, yet waited more than two months after being held in contempt of court before handing over the information.

When the information was finally handed over, several pieces of information were reportedly missing. The court decided June 1 to grant Bevin a final extension to turn over the documents, or face the jail time and fine.

Documents say Bevin had been ordered to attend a May 29 sentencing hearing in person, which he attended via Zoom without prior permission. Bevin was reportedly reminded of this requirement two days before the hearing.

Bevin was sentenced either 14 days incarceration or a $250 fine for failing to appear in court. He ultimately paid the fine.

The court documents say that the ordered information and punishment for failing to submit it is not subject to appeal.
