Scattered severe storms possible Saturday across CNY

After an absolutely beautiful stretch of days a low-pressure system crossing the Great Lakes will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to central New York Saturday.

We’ll likely see a few scattered morning showers before we clear out for a couple hours during the midday. Developing afternoon showers and thunderstorms could intensify and become strong to severe so if you have plans to be downtown, make sure to stay weather aware!

Saturday Taste of Syracuse Hourly Forecast

The storms will be relatively scattered in nature where plenty of us will only see a few showers and/or a weak storm. But others that unfortunately get hit with the stronger storms, you’ll want to make sure you have a plan to be inside. Below is a snapshot of what 4PM could look like, notice there’s only one stronger storm with much of the area getting showers.

The Storm Prediction Center is favoring areas slightly south and east of Syracuse for the chance of these stronger storms. Although with the uncertainty involved, it’s best to take a peek at the radar no matter where you are in central New York tomorrow afternoon.

By 8PM Saturday most of the showers and thunderstorms will be east of the area with clearing skies likely.
