All the world’s a stage, and Suri Cruise is breaking in her pair of two-inch-high character shoes. According to “Page Six,” the 20-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will star in Midsummer!, a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The 90-minute production will preview in Pittsburgh at the Trust Arts Education Center on July 31 and August 1 before making its U.K. debut at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which will run from August 7 to 31. An anonymous source also claimed that Cruise, a soon-to-be junior at Carnegie Mellon, is officially studying musical theater in the college’s school of drama.
It’s unclear whom Cruise is playing — her name doesn’t appear on the play’s event page, which describes the cast as 19 Carnegie Mellon students. Though she was initially rumored to be pursuing a fashion degree, it’s not exactly surprising Cruise ended up pivoting to theater. She did go to La Guardia, New York’s most infamous performing-arts school, and she has been acting since she got to college, including in a one-night-only community production of Cosmic Microwave Background at Pittsburgh’s New Hazlett Theater in March.
Holmes recently defended her daughter against Daily Mail rumors that she came into “a great deal of money” from a purported trust fund, calling them “completely false” in a succinct Instagram post. If anything, Cruise taking the thee-ay-ater stage to recite 2026-ified iambic pentameter is a nice way to prove not only her acting chops but that she’s in it for the genuine love of the game.
