COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Good morning, Central Ohio! After a nine-day stretch of dry weather, rain showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast.

It is a warm and humid morning to kick off the weekend. Ahead of a cold front, a shower or storm may impact the late morning. This first round will not be severe, but could play a role in the strength of the afternoon and evening storms. However, there is a potential that we will remain dry until later this afternoon as storms develop along the front.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening with a chance of a few strong thunderstorms. This afternoon is an Alert Day, as gusty winds and large hail are possible in any stronger storm. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Storms will weaken late tonight with warm overnight lows in the upper 60s. A few showers/storms are possible again on Sunday, mainly in southern and western Ohio. Otherwise, most areas will be dry. Highs will be in the mid-80s. The warm and humid air persists through the work week with multiple chances for showers and thunderstorms. By the end of the week, highs will soar into the low 90s. Heat index values could reach the mid to upper 90s!
