Dawn French has claimed she once rebuffed Eamonn Holmes with a firm “dream on” after recounting a tale of an unexpected snog. The comedian made an appearance on This Morning, where she reminisced about some of her surprising kisses with Hollywood A-listers.

During the chat, she shared a notable moment involving Brad Pitt, telling hosts Eamonn and Ruth Langsford: “I was in a restaurant with Jen (Saunders) and Terry Gilliam walked in with Brad Pitt.

“I passed a note to Terry that said, ‘Make Brad kiss me like he’s in love with me’. I got on with lunch and forgot all about it and suddenly Brad was on my face, kissing me passionately and saying, ‘I’ll call you’. Well, Jen’s chin hit the table! It was great.”

In one of Comic Relief’s most memorable sketches, Dawn also locked lips with Hugh Grant during Red Nose Day in 1995.

Looking back on the incident during a conversation with Best magazine, Dawn claimed she turned down a kiss from Eamonn.

“I kissed a lot of people for Comic Relief,” she explained. “One day I went on This Morning and told the story about me kissing Brad Pitt and Hugh Grant.

“Eamonn turned to me and said, ‘You’re a bit of a one aren’t you?’ I went ‘dream on’.”

At the time, Eamonn was hosting This Morning alongside his now ex-wife, Ruth.

The former pair, who have a grown-up son together, announced their split in May 2024 following 14 years of marriage.

Eamonn has since begun a new relationship with Katie Alexander, a relationship counsellor, while Ruth recently confirmed she is single.

While she’s made it clear there’s no urgency to jump back into the dating scene, she’s keeping the door open for romance down the line.

During an appearance on Heart Breakfast last month, the TV personality discussed her preference for meeting someone the “old-fashioned” way.

She told hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston: “You know, that I might just walk out of here, bump into somebody and go, ‘Oh sorry’ and then find myself having a coffee with them. I don’t know, but I won’t be swiping anyone.”

Since these remarks, her close friend and Loose Women co-star Coleen Nolan expressed enthusiasm about seeing Ruth join Celebs Go Dating, having recently taken part herself.

“Oh, my God. I’d love to see her on the show! I’d just love her to meet someone gorgeous that she deserves,” she told Woman magazine.

That said, drawing on her own journey through divorce, Coleen acknowledged why Ruth might not be prepared to take that step just yet.

“I think she’s a way off though. I couldn’t have done that straight after my divorce. No way. For four years after I got divorced, the last thing I wanted was anyone,” she added.

“I loved my freedom. That took a good three or four years. And I think Ruth might feel like that. But God, I’d love her to do the show. If she asked me, I’d be like, ‘Absolutely do it, it’s brilliant’.”

Eamonn features on The Weakest Link this evening from 7.30pm.
