Liverpool will clinch the Premier League title by a narrow margin of two points according to a new prediction. The Reds have had an encouraging start to the season under Arne Slot, currently leading the pack after six matches.

However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the reigning champions. They’ve had to rely on last-gasp goals to secure victories against Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Burnley.

Their 2-1 triumph over local rivals Everton was anything-but comfortable. The first hiccup of the season came in the form of a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Ismaila Sarr broke the deadlock for the hosts and Federico Chiesa levelled the score with just three minutes remaining, only for Eddie Nketiah to snatch victory for Palace deep into injury time.

Despite this setback, Liverpool maintain a two-point advantage over Arsenal as we head into the seventh round of Premier League fixtures, where they’ll take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. According to Opta Analyst, this is how the standings will look come the end of the season in May.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

Their predictions suggest that Liverpool will finish the campaign with 78.56 points, just edging out Arsenal’s projected total of 76.10. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have managed four wins from their first six games, but a defeat to Liverpool and a draw with Manchester City mean they’re slightly off the pace.

According to analysts, City, Crystal Palace and Brighton are predicted to round off the top five at the end of the season, with 67, 63 and 58 points respectively. While Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be hoping that Ruben Amorim can turn things around for Manchester United this term, the club’s forecasted outlook is not as optimistic.

This is because Opta places the Red Devils in 14th position when the current campaign concludes. Amorim has had a rocky start to his tenure with United, currently sitting in the spot they are projected to finish in as a result.

After an embarrassing 15th-place finish last season, Amorim received full support from the United board and was given a complete pre-season to fine-tune his team. However, it seems that the over £200million spent on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko might not be the answer to the club’s problems.

This is due to United managing only two victories from their first six matches this season, also suffering defeat at the hands of Arsenal and rivals City. Additionally, conceding 11 goals this early in the season should be a significant warning sign for Amorim, who has yet to use summer signing Senne Lammens over Altay Bayindir in goal.

United face more challenging fixtures with Sunderland, Liverpool, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham on the horizon. Given the current pressure, it’s possible that Amorim may not last much longer at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted Sunderland, Leeds United and Burnley were widely tipped to make a swift return to the Championship for the 2026/27 season. However, Opta predicts only Burnley face the drop, following strong starts from both Sunderland and Leeds.

Burnley currently languish in 18th place with just one win, one draw and four losses. In contrast, Leeds have ascended to 11th position thanks to two wins, two draws and two losses.

Sunderland, after a summer of significant investment, are impressively placed fifth in the Premier League, with three wins, two draws and just one loss.

According to Opta, West Ham are predicted to finish 18th with 37.45 points following a disappointing start to the season. Burnley are expected to take 19th place with 33.94 points, while Wolves are forecasted to finish bottom with 33.75 points – hardly surprising given Vitor Pereira has already endured five losses this term.

Here’s how Opta Analyst expect the Premier League table to look at the end of the season:

Liverpool – 78 points.

Arsenal – 76 points.

Manchester City – 67 points.

Crystal Palace – 63 points.

Chelsea – 58 points.

Brighton & Hove Albion – 55 points.

Bournemouth – 55 points.

Newcastle United – 55 points.

Tottenham Hotspur – 54 points.

Aston Villa – 53 points.

Everton – 48 points.

Brentford – 48 points.

Fulham – 48 points.

Manchester United – 48 points.

Nottingham Forest – 42 points.

Leeds United – 41 points.

Sunderland – 40 points.

West Ham United – 38 points.

Burnley – 34 points.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – 33 points.
