L’Jarius Sneed, embattled former Titans CB, signing with Kansas City Chiefs per reports

L’Jarius Sneed has a new home, putting one of the strangest sagas and biggest mistakes in modern Tennessee Titans history officially in the past.
Sneed, the cornerback who was on the Titans’ roster from 2024-25, is signing a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, per reports from ESPN and NFL Network. Sneed only played 12 games across his two seasons in Nashville after the Titans traded for him and signed him to a massive contract worth $76 million over four years. Recurring injuries both new and old, coupled with off-field legal troubles, made Sneed’s signing one of the more disappointing on-field displays in Titans history.
Sneed played four seasons in Kansas City, winning two Super Bowls, before the Chiefs traded him to the Titans rather than signing him to an extension off the franchise tag.
The Titans released Sneed in March, just days after agreeing to free agent contracts with cornerbacks Alontae Taylor and Cor’Dale Flott.
In his 12 games with the Titans, Sneed intercepted zero passes and only broke up three. By contrast, Sneed was one of the league’s best cornerbacks in his first four pro seasons with Kansas City, logging 10 interceptions and 40 pass breakups to go along with more than 300 tackles.
Sneed came to the Titans with a pre-existing knee injury that had to be managed from the day he arrived in Nashville. As a result, Sneed barely practiced in his first offseason with the Titans. This led to a perception that he wasn’t ready when the 2024 season began, a perception that was backed up by his less-than-stellar play in the first couple weeks of the season. In Week 6, Sneed left with a quad injury that originally looked to be a minor strain that wouldn’t cause him to miss much time but eventually spiraled into a season-ending injury that required a procedure to fix.
Couple that procedure with knee surgery to address his pre-existing condition and Sneed once again missed the offseason heading into 2025. He played on a pitch count for the first couple weeks of the season before assuming a bigger workload in Week 4. In Week 7, when Sneed allowed two touchdowns on three targets, Sneed left with another quad injury and never returned. That was his last appearance in a Titans uniform.
In addition to Taylor and Flott, the Titans’ cornerback room also includes free agent signing Joshua Williams and 2025 draft pick Marcus Harris.
