Jordyn Woods’ Engagement Ring Is Likely Worth Over $1 Million and Full of Hidden Symbolism

All eyes are on the New York Knicks for the NBA finals, but something sparkling courtside might just steal the show.
Jordyn Woods, model and fiancé of Knicks player Karl-Anthony Towns, has been turning heads with her massive emerald-cut diamond ring since Towns got down on one knee last December.
Woods, 28, and Towns, 30, shared close-up photos of the ring in a joint Instagram roundup announcing their engagement on Christmas Day.

Working with New York-based jewelry designer Bernard James, Towns created a fully custom engagement ring, featuring hidden details that make it entirely one-of-a-kind.
Here’s what to know, according to jewelry pros.
The Emerald Cut Diamond Could Be Over 10 Carats
The star of Woods’ ring is the emerald-cut diamond that GIA-certified gemologist and jeweler Benjamin Khordipour estimates to be around 15 carats. It gives the ring a “clean, elongated, high-jewelry presence,” he told TODAY.com in an emailed statement.

The diamond is perched in an open basket setting, according to Calista West, founder and jewelry designer at Calista West,.
“The open basket allows more light to enter the diamond while keeping the overall design visually light and elegant despite the impressive size of the center stone,” West said.

The Ring Features 6 Hidden Birthstones
But the diamond isn’t even Woods’ favorite part. Rather, the model told Town & Country she loves “how intentional the inside is.”
Towns included his and Woods’ birth stones, as well as the birth stones of both of their parents. “It is symbolic of our family becoming one,” Woods told the magazine.

She also added that Towns included a special hand-written note on the inside, one that’s just for her.
It’s Surrounded by Pink Diamonds
The ring’s “most distinctive” element is its gradient pink to white pavé diamonds incorporated along the band, West told TODAY.com.
Jewelers consider pink one of the “most romantic and emotionally resonant colors,” West added. “It conveys warmth, femininity, love, and sentimentality without feeling overly traditional.”

Natural pink diamonds are also among the rarest in the world, which makes them “especially coveted,” she told TODAY.com.
It’s Estimated to Cost Upwards of $1 Million
“The closest estimated price I can give is one bajillion dollars,” joked Julia Hackman Chafé, jeweler, content creator and friend of Bernard James, Towns’ ring designer, in an email to TODAY.com. “But seriously, over $1 million,” she added.
Jewelers emphasize that they need further details to pin down a precise price, but agree the ring could be extremely valuable.
Between the size of the center diamond, James’ custom design work and the coveted pink diamonds, the ring is likely worth well over $1 million — and possibly several, jewelers agree.
Donatello Bonasera, luxury jewelry designer and precious materials expert, told TODAY.com he would consider $1.3 million to be a “reasonable and conservative” estimate.
Gemologist Khordipour estimates at least $1.5 million.
It’s Part of a Bigger Engagement Ring Moment
Woods’ ring isn’t just a showstopper — it’s a window in to where high-end engagement ring design is headed, a mix of classic and custom.
“This ring reflects one of the strongest luxury engagement ring trends we’re seeing today: personalization. Rather than abandoning tradition, (the ring) builds upon it,” West said.
The result, West added, is “an example of where high-end engagement ring design is heading: toward pieces that tell a unique story while maintaining timeless appeal.”
