Former WWE Star Fires Back at Becky Lynch Remarks

WWE star Becky Lynch seemed to rile up at least one former co-star with her recent remarks. Becky, one of the company’s top wrestling stars, recently appeared on comedian Bert Kreischer’s “Something’s Burning” YouTube show, where she mentioned some of her current and former co-workers.

One of the individuals she mentioned was former WWE star Macey Estrella-Kadrec, best known as Lacey Evans during her time with the company. The two participated in multiple matches together, including some around 2019 after Becky appeared in the main event for WrestleMania.

While appearing on Kreischer’s show with her real-life husband, Seth Rollins, Kreischer asked them how comfortable they felt sharing parts of their relationship with WWE. According to Becky, as soon as news broke that they were together, WWE presented them as a couple on programming. Both she and Seth told Kreischer that it wasn’t good.

“I was at the height of my career. I was ‘The Man,’ and he was the Heavyweight Champion. We were two characters that were loved by the audience,” Lynch said.

“I start working with Lacey Evans right out the gate. Like so kind of really had, God bless her, but she wasn’t you know, for me to go from the main event of WrestleMania to somebody who hadn’t done anything was terrible,” she said on Kreischer’s show.

Once an X account shared the comments Becky made, Estrella-Kadrec, aka Evans, responded to Lynch.

“Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. the only person who *shoot cried more than you was the baby I had on my hip while taking all the opportunities. if/when I come back….you will STILL do nothing but gently shake my hand and say ‘how cute my little family is’ backstage,” she wrote on her X.

Evans started in WWE in 2016 and seemed to have a promising career there initially. After becoming a rising star with her Southern belle gimmick on NXT, she debuted on the main roster in 2019 and feuded with Lynch.

However, during Evans’ time with WWE, she never captured any championships, nor did she receive enough spotlight to become among the main roster stars. Interestingly enough, she did land at No. 23 overall on the PWI Women’s 100 in 2019, the year Lynch referenced as a “terrible” feud for her.

A Fightful report suggested that WWE planned for Evans to win the Raw Women’s Championship from Asuka at Elimination Chamber in 2021. From there, Evans was going to continue a feud with Charlotte Flair through WrestleMania. However, Evans became pregnant, and WWE canceled her championship match with Asuka.

She remained out of action for a year due to pregnancy, then experienced backlash upon her return for various online opinions. Despite a repackaging effort based on her military background, it didn’t generate any serious momentum for her. She left WWE in August 2023, later indicating on “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” that WWE was never her passion.

Her recent remarks, firing back at Becky Lynch, suggested that she is open to returning to professional wrestling or simply looking to generate publicity amid her career away from WWE. Lynch didn’t seem to trash her former co-star with the remarks regarding her booking, and continues to work for WWE in significant stories or matches. She’ll be among the featured stars at this Saturday’s Survivor Series WarGames.
